Meet: Wellness Expert Rachel DeVaux

These experts keep us inspired on a daily basis. As such, we are beginning our Meet: Wellness Experts Series where we highlight some of our favorite people that are spreading the healthy living movement…and making sure it’s here to stay.

For our first Meet: feature, we reached out to future registered dietitian and clean eating blogger, Rachael DeVaux (instagram: rachaelsgoodeats). We asked her a few questions about her healthy, balanced lifestyle. We’re huge fans of Rachael and especially love her recipes like this insanely yummy breakfast! Here’s a peak into this expert’s wellness practices and why she loves using organic skincare products like cocokind.

How did you get started on your clean eating journey?

I’ve always been active since I was a kid especially with sports, but I don’t think I really started to make health conscious choices until the end of high school. It has definitely been a journey becoming better at choosing which foods will fuel my body the best, and it definitely hasn’t been something I’ve mastered overnight. Every year, I seem to become more in tune with finding clean eating alternatives for those foods I once loved when I was younger. It was certainly easier to make healthy decisions in college when I was studying nutrition and learned the process of how foods worked in the body.

So be honest, do you clean eat…every day?!

I post most of my meals on my Instagram each day, and yes most of them are healthy, nutrient-packed foods. But that doesn’t mean I feel deprived or eliminate foods from my diet at all. I’m mindful of what my body craves and I’m all about everything in moderation. Once eating healthy becomes a habit, your body will want less of the greasy, empty calorie foods and more of the foods that are nourishing and beneficial.

Why do you think it’s important to use organic products?

Not only is choosing organic important when it comes to food, the same thing is said with skincare products. When nearly 80% of what you put on your skin (your body’s largest organ) is absorbed straight into your bloodstream, you bet it’s important to choose the healthiest organic products out there.

Organic is much better for the environment as well, and for so many reasons. For one, organic farming avoids the chemical pollutants that the alternative creates. These chemicals can become harmful to the farmers, consumers who purchase products made from these farms, and the wildlife.

What’s your favorite cocokind product and when do you use it?

My favorite product is the Organic Skin Butter and I use it every time I get out of the shower. The smell of it is incredible and stays with you all day, not to mention how soft and hydrated your skin feels.

What’s one healthy living habit you can’t live without?

Early morning workouts followed by a high protein breakfast!

Yup, that’s high protein alright!

What’s your favorite beauty tip?

Keep your skin hydrated on the outside AND the inside by wearing sunscreen, atmosphere protection, etc. and drinking sufficient amounts of water every day.

And lastly…guilty pleasure?

Peanut butter, peanut butter, peanut butter!
