It'll take off your make-up AND replenish your microbiome, and it's affordably priced at $18 (for 2.9 fl. oz). It'll leave your skin feeling “oh so fresh and so clean clean!”

In this post, we'll introduce the product and break down its benefits and ingredients. Read on!

oil to milk cleanser by cocokind, $18

Here are the top benefits of this new cleanser:

It's a cleanser for when you just want to wash your face!

Our oil to milk cleanser has the benefits of an oil cleanse combined with the experience of a traditional wash-off cleanser. Sometimes, you just want to wash your face. Feel free to use it am and/or pm!

It promotes a healthy microbiome

Our skin hosts a diverse range of bacteria or microbes to keep it healthy and balanced. The prebiotic fermented oat in our cleanser helps create a healthy environment for our microbiome to thrive, where bacteria can obtain energy and nutrients to live and reproduce. As a result, our skin is better able to defend us from external pathogens, inflammation or irritation, and environmental stressors.

It's an actually gentle and non-disruptive cleanser with an ideal pH range of around 5.25

Our skin’s protective acid mantle has a slightly acidic pH level of about 5-5.5. Unfortunately, most cleansers and soaps have a higher alkaline reading of about pH 7-9. Alkaline cleansers can dry out the skin and weaken the skin’s physical barriers and structural integrity. The result is that we are more at risk for thinning skin and increased aging signs, breakouts, and inflammation.

Our cleanser has a pH of ~5.25 which allows it to work in conjunction with our acid mantle to gently balance the microbiome and replenish the barrier.

Other benefits

-Plastic-free tube! The tube is made out of sugarcane materials

-Leaves skin soft and replenished

-Gluten-free formula

-Clean, non-toxic formula

-Can be used complimentary with our other products

this cleanser will take off your make-up AND replenish your microbiome

How to use our cleanser

With damp hands, massage cleanser onto dry skin for 10-20 seconds to create a milky wash. Add more water for slip if needed. Rinse off with water and pat dry, and follow-up with toner.

***Note that you can decide when you want to transition the oil to milk by deciding when you add water to your massage. If you add water early on, this will create the milky wash quicker and help remove makeup more easily. If you add the water later on to your massage, this will provide more moisture and act more like a traditional cleansing oil. You can do it differently based on what your skin needs!

This new cleanser vs. our OG cleansing oil?

Both our cleansing oil and oil to milk cleanser work effectively to gently cleanse the face and leave our natural pH levels undisturbed. You can't go wrong. However, there are times when you just want to wash your face (like in the shower or when you're out of cotton pads!).

Our cleansing oil requires no wash off and leaves your face with a protective hydrating barrier. To remove makeup, you have to use cotton pads or a damp towel.

Our oil to milk cleanser is suitable for when you want to “wash” your face, or if you just are't used to cleansing oils. You can use this am and/or pm! For acne-prone individuals, it also promote a healthy microbiome environment which can help combat breakouts and inflammation.

We're confident that you'll find uses for both in your routine :).

What’s in it?

We always like to explain each and every ingredient in our products. Below, we list all of our ingredients, explaining what they are AND what they do in our formula.

Organic Sunflower Oil: High in linoleic acid and vitamin E, sunflower oil works as a skin conditioner and protective addition to the skin’s barrier.

Glycerin:  Mild and safe, this gmo-free and soy-free humectant draws moisture in and keeps the skin hydrated and soft to the touch. Its natural preservative properties work to help carry other ingredients in our formula without causing irritation.

Organic Grapeseed Oil: Lightweight and non-greasy, this oil is rich in vitamins and delivers gentle firming properties when used topically.

Water: As the liquid content of this cleanser, it acts as a solvent and assists with texture and spread ability.

Sucrose Laurate, Sucrose Palmitate, Sucrose Stearate: This sugar-based mixture acts as a cold process emulsifier in our cleanser. This means that it helps ensure that the oil and water elements of our cleanser don’t separate. This sugar esters also emulsify upon contact with water, which allows us to “wash off” our cleanser. In addition to providing these functions, this blend also acts as a gentle skin conditioning agent and emollient.

Organic Baobab Seed Oil: Due to its non-irritating, hydrating, moisturizing, and occluding benefits, this oil delivers and seals in moisture. This helps to prevent trans-epidermal water loss.

Oat Kernel Oil, Oat Kernel Extract, and Lactobacillus Ferment (*our hero ingredient in this cleanser*): A prebiotic complex of gmo-free, fermented oat, these ingredients are a key component of our cleanser. Oats are fermented with a stable strain of lactobacillus ferment (a probiotic) in order to be broken down into bio-available molecules like antioxidants and amino acids. Encouraging the activity of microbial communities, they allow for a quicker resettlement of the skin’s first line of defense. This process not only protects our skin from pathogen damage, but it also helps promote a thriving and balanced natural flora and skin microbiome. In addition, studies have shown that this complex also delivers hydration and increases stratum corneum thickness, leaving skin feeling soft and appearing plump.

Geranium Oil: Due to its impressive toning and balancing benefits to the skin, this oil helps to improve skin tone while giving off a naturally sweet and floral aroma.

Tocopherol: This sunflower-derived natural chemical has a high concentration of vitamin E. These antioxidants fight against free radicals and oxidation of our formula.

Chamomile Flower Oil: Its natural calming properties make this oil a soothing ingredient and scent in our cleanser.

We hope you love our new oil to milk cleanser! We can't wait to hear what you think. As always, email us at with questions or follow us @cocokindskincare for more info!

@sjsmith – yes, RSPO!

cocokind on

@Courtney – hi! This cleanser contains fermented oats and oat kernel oil that are naturally gluten-free, but have not been certified!

Courtney Gregg on

Regarding your gluten free talk about your ingredients but not your processing. What about shared equipment? I have celiac disease and I do have reactions from topical products

sjsmith on

Looks like this product uses palm oil, any chance it’s RSPO certified?

cocokind on

@Brittney – hi! Like all of our products, this cleanser was formulated to be safe but effective. However, if you’re expecting, we recommend showing the ingredient list to your doctor to confirm safety for you specifically! Hope this helps :)

Brittney on

Hello! Is this specific product safe for pregnancy? Thank you!

cocokind on

@Allisa – yes, absolutely!

Allisa Dandenault on

hi! wondering if i can use this as a cleansing oil before i use my regular face wash? my face wash is an all natural one by dessert essence, the tea tree one.

cocokind on

@Valeria – this product is fragrance free! We include chamomile flower oil for it’s skin-soothing properties :)

Valeria Ortega on

Hi! I’ve been using your other products and loving it! However, I’ve run out of my usual cleanser and was considering purchasing this cleanser instead. I have a question, is it fragrance-free? I have heard it is not ideal to use cleansers containing fragrances. I was reading the list of ingredients and encountered the chamomile flower oil, is that considered a fragrance in the cleanser? Thank you, hope to hear from you soon!

cocokind on

@Adrianne – yes, you can remove this cleanser with a damp cotton pad!

Adrianne on

Hello, I am wondering if it would work to use this cleanser with a cotton pad instead of washing it off? I don’t like the coconut oil in the oil cleanser, but my skin prefers the cotton pad method without rinsing

cocokind on

@Suzanne – hi! Our oat ingredients and entire cleanser formula are gluten-free :)

Suzanne Brown on

Hi I was wondering if this product is gluten free? I noticed it said it contains gluten free ingredients but are the oat ingredients gluten free? Wondering if it’s safe to use with a gluten allergy or celiac

cocokind on

@Angeliki – yes! safe for all skin types :)

Angeliki Manoli on

Hello! I am trying to repair my damaged skin barrier and I am looking for a gentle cleanser. Is this safe for acne prone skin? Thank you in advance.

cocokind on

Amber - great question! Consuming sugar can have adverse effects on skin and acne for a lot of people, but topically, sugar can actually be beneficial! Sugar comes in various forms - it can be an exfoliator, humectant, prebiotic, and more. In this cleanser, the sugar-derived materials work as emulsifiers, keeping our formula homogenous and ensuring that other ingredients can perform their best. They also help our formula transform into a milk. Hope this helps! If you still have questions, feel free to shoot us a DM on Instagram or email!

Amber Davis on

So odd question I guess but I have hormonal acne issues and I was wondering if the sugar based products used in the oil to milk wash will cause more breakouts? Sugar and acne don’t seem like a good combo lol.

cocokind on

@Emily – every ingredient is always listed :)

Emily White on

Is every ingredient listed on all your products on the website? Or are there more ingredients in your products not listed? I love your products but just curious to make sure its all those clean ingredients im using and not more :)

cocokind on

Caroline - great question! While this product contains glycerin, which has natural preservative properties, there is no material whose sole job is as a preservative in this particular formula. This formula is "self-preserved," meaning that in its entirety, it inherently keeps itself stable and safe. The amount of water in this formula is also very small, and because it's housed in a tube, its exposure to microbes is limited. Hope this answers your question - if not, please feel free to reach out to!

Caroline McCombie on

Just looking at your oil to milk cleanser and I notice the ingredients say it has water but you don’t have a preservative, just wondered if you could tell me how the product is preserved?

cocokind on

Hi Ange! Yes, all of our products are completely safe and nontoxic, but we always recommend checking with your doctor to confirm that all of the ingredients are safe for you specifically :)

Ange on

Are your products safe during pregnancy and nursing?

cocokind on

Michelle – happy to hear that! Yes, our OTM cleanser is available at Whole Foods :)
Monica – yes, great for oily skin too!
Phoebe – I’d recommend using the OTM after the cleansing oil when double cleansing with them! And yes, OTM + sea moss make a great exfoliating cleanser!
Connor – no, it shouldn’t clog pores and is great for balancing acne-prone skin!
Isabella – fragrance free, but it does contain geranium oil, which adds a light floral scent to this product :)

Isabella Tylen on

Is this product fragrance free?

Connor Doe on

I know you mention that this is beneficial for acne prone skin, which is great! Since this is an oil based cleanser is this a risk to clog pores at all?

Phoebe B on

As a follow-up to Kenna’s question – if I wanted to double cleanse with the product, would it be best to use before or after the normal cleansing oil? Also – is it ever recommended to mix this cleanser with the sea moss exfoliant to create an exfoliating cleanser? Or does the sea moss react differently when mixed with something other than water?

Monica on

Hello! Does this work well for oily skin?

Michelle Marie on

I’m using all of your products and loving ‘em!!! My question is is this new oil/milk cleanser available @Whole foods market as yet or is it only available online 🥰

priscilla on

Hi Kenna! Yes you can definitely do that. The combination will be an effective double cleanse solution. You can also use it on its own, or in the AM, or in the shower!

Kenna Clements on

I love all of your products and currently use the rosewater in the am and cleansing oil, raspberry toner, and golden elixir in the pm. I am wondering if I am able to use the oil to milk cleanser at night to first wash off my makeup and then follow it up with my normal cleansing oil, toner, golden elixir routine? Or will it be too heavy on the oils with both cleansers? Thank you for your help!
